Damaged teeth, whether broken, decayed, or stained, can ruin the appearance of your smile and often leave you in immense pain. At Löberg Professional Dental Corporation, we offer a variety of restorative options to renew the health of your teeth and leave you with a beautiful smile. Porcelain veneers or dental bonding can cover minor imperfections or damage to rejuvenate a smile. Teeth that are severely decayed may need to be restored with a porcelain crown to cover the entire tooth. Sometimes, patients experience middle of the road problems that fall in-between minor damage and severely compromised teeth. For these types of problems, Dr. Löberg turns to inlays.
Inlays, or indirect fillings, are used to fill a cavity (either on the front or the side) when the cusp is still intact. Your cusps are the tip or bumpy structures that lie on the biting surface of the teeth. Inlays are composed of tooth-colored materials like porcelain or resin and are color matched to your existing teeth to create a natural looking restoration.
Inlays typically take two dental visits for placement. During the first visit, Dr. Löberg will make impressions of the tooth to be sent to the dental lab. Inlays differ from fillings in that they are custom made in a laboratory, versus being formed in your mouth. Before you leave the office, a temporary restoration will be put in place. On the second appointment, Dr. Löberg will thoroughly clean the tooth and bond the inlay and make any necessary adjustments.
